Terms of Service

Effective 24 October 2026

5D Chess Lab (fireplank.github.io/5d-chess-lab, "the site") is a free, non-commercial, open-source website for 5D Chess With Multiverse Time Travel, run by its maintainer, FirePlank ("we"). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.

1. Who may use the site

You may use the site if you are at least 13 years old, or older where your country requires it to agree to these terms. An account is optional; it is needed only for rated games and a profile.

2. Accounts

3. Fair play

Rated games measure your own skill. In a rated game, you must not:

Using the analysis board and the engine is welcome outside rated games: for study, for finished games, and in casual games against the engine. To keep rated play fair, the site may analyse rated games, including move times, for signs of engine use, and players found breaking these rules may have their account marked, their rated games excluded or reverted, or their account suspended or closed. We review such decisions by hand; if you think one is wrong, contact us (see below).

4. Conduct

We may remove content or restrict or close accounts that break these terms.

5. Your games and content

Games played on the site are public records, as on other chess sites: anyone may view, download and analyse them. By playing online you agree that your moves, results and public name may be shown and shared in this way.

6. The software

The site's source code is open source under the GNU General Public License, version 3 (see the repository), which governs your use of the code itself. 5D Chess Lab is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with Thunkspace, the makers of 5D Chess With Multiverse Time Travel.

7. The service is provided as is

The site is a free hobby project. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. It may be changed, interrupted or shut down at any time, and games, ratings or other data may be lost. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer laws of your country that cannot be limited.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using the site at any time and close your account yourself, from Edit profile on your profile (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; the new version applies from its effective date, posted on this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

10. Contact

Questions, appeals and reports: open an issue at github.com/FirePlank/5d-chess-lab/issues, or message the maintainer, FirePlank, on the 5D chess community Discord.
